Foxes Fiesta - A foodie's perfect hideout

Everybody likes to eat delicious mouth-watering food. But, what if you can get the same at a wallet-friendly price with a comfy surrounding. My experience with Foxes Fiesta was just that.  A stone throw distance from the iconic Saligao Church this small restaurant is a perfect spot for a family dinner or get-together with close buddies. Not wanting to travel to Porvorim, Panjim or Mapusa (common choices for dining) I zeroed in on Foxes Fiesta. The name instantly struck a chord with me as it brought back nostalgic memories of the defunct Foxes Nite which used to be held annually in Saligao. The restaurant is located very close to Mae de Deus Church on the route to Calangute from Saligao on CHOGM road.

The moment we entered the ambience gave us a very homely feeling. The restaurant has a well-lit sitting area and a sedate balcony area, a perfect getaway for the claustrophobic species. We decided on making ourselves comfortable in the balcony area as the mercury had dropped considerably due to seasonal rains. The starters list is just a one-page list but it will not disappoint you. For starters we decided on Veg Manchow Soup, Cheesy Fries, Rava Fry Kingfish, Rava Fry Prawns. Much to our delight we were served complementary Masala Papads with our ordered starters. Their cheesy fries come very close to Fondue. It was truly a pleasant surprise, a must try. The fish dishes and the soup were also great. The prawns in particular were juicy and tasted fresh. We also ordered a couple of breezers and rum. The music was not too loud and pleasing to the ears. The choice of music was retro apt for a quiet cold night. The service was good and we didn’t have to wait for long for our order which made it all the more a pleasant visit.

Yummy Food

For the main course we ordered garlic naans, fish masala and butter chicken. The butter chicken was well cooked and juicy. It was tasty although it didn’t taste like the usual Butter Chicken. The food was not spicy and appealing to the taste buds. The naans were awesome. Unfortunately, we did not have much space in our tummies to squeeze in a serving for a dessert. Overall a place one could visit with their families or best buddies.

All-in-all, Foxes Fiesta is that rare bird of a restaurant: a pocket-friendly restaurant that also happens to serve wonderful food. If you’re in Goa for a weekend, tryout this hideout. It’s not to be missed.
